What is a domain name?
A domain name is nothing more than a human convention - an easy way to remember the address of a web site.
Every 123 account comes with a static or fixed IP address - the numerical address sent in your new account
Welcome letter. You can always use the IP address to find, upload to and download from your web site, and in fact
you must use this for the first few days while your new domain is being processed.

When you purchase a new domain name from 123 Cheap Hosting, or get one free with our annual account, we register it
immediately so that no one else can get your chosen name. The process takes about 48 hours to complete, and once
it is done you can view your site in any of these three ways:
- IP address (we're 64.176.219.101)
- www.yourdomain.com
- yourdomain.com

What's the deal? We make it simple - sign up for an annual host contract, and we buy the domain name for you (in
your name). It's your property, and there are no hidden or special fees. As long as you remain a 123 Cheap Hosting
customer on an annual contract, we'll keep paying the annual fees on your name. Of course if you move your hosting
elsewhere you will have to pay the name fees yourself!

Parked domain names
A parked domain name is a domain name that points to the original domain, so if someone goes to the
parked domain, they will be sent to the same place as the main domain. The parked domain is placed
on the main domain IP number. Many companies, including us, buy the .net domain and park it on
the .com domain. We can set these up for you for a one-time $5.00 set up fee - send us a Support Request
and we'll take care of it!.
